“Graduating can be an easy feat for the average student, but graduating exceptionally is a great feat for the excellent student.”

Whilst I celebrate my journey, I celebrate resilience, doggedness, determination, and discipline, all culminating in excellence. My name is Joy Oluwabunmi Abodunde, the Best Graduating Student of the Department of History and International Studies (2024/2025 set), Federal University Lokoja.

God — My Surest Foundation

The sole foundation I relied on throughout my academic journey was God. He was my rock, strength, and greatest teacher. Every semester, I committed my courses to God in prayer. I made declarations concerning them, and by God’s grace, I consistently experienced ease in learning and favor from my lecturers.

Self-Discovery

One of the strongest routes to my success was discovering myself. I realized that what works for others may not necessarily work for me. Understanding myself helped me design a study system aligned with my strengths.

“Diligence, resilience, and determination truly pay.”

— Joy Oluwabunmi Abodunde

Vision & Targets

Each semester, I wrote down my academic goals. I deliberately wrote “A’s” for all my courses. Though I fell short sometimes, I never stopped envisioning excellence.
