My journey at Federal University Lokoja did not start on a high note. In the beginning, I struggled deeply with a lack of clarity and low performance. 01. I Gained True Clarity
The first step toward my success was finding peace with my choice of study. For me, "clarity" meant falling in love with my course completely. When I started to truly love what I was doing, I found the strength to push through stress and difficulties. This passion changed my perspective; I stopped studying for examinations out of obligation and started studying with a clear purpose.
02. I Combined Effort with Faith
While I put in significant personal effort, I knew it wasn't enough on its own. I invited God into every part of my journey. Whether it was a minor assignment or a major assessment, I never relied on my intelligence alone. After every exam, I would pray as if I hadn't written anything at all, putting my trust in divine promises. Hard work is essential, but I found that internal strength and faith sustained me when talent felt insufficient.
03. I Mastered My Time
The Theatre Arts department is incredibly demanding, leaving very little room for error. We faced a constant stream of lectures, assignments, tests, and practical requirements. I had to learn to maximize every minute. I began treating my study time with the utmost respect, and that discipline became the primary factor in my academic growth.
04. I Refined My Presentation
I realized that how I presented my knowledge was just as vital as the knowledge itself. To make my scripts stand out to my lecturers, I adopted a specific three-phase structure for every answer: I started with a clear Introduction to define the topic, followed by a Body filled with core facts, and ended with a strong Conclusion. This organized approach signaled that I truly understood the material.
05. I Chose Consistent Immersion
The final key was simply staying committed. By combining these habits, I stopped seeing "C" grades entirely after my first year. My grades continued to climb higher throughout my time at the university because I remained immersed in the process. Success became a habit for me because my commitment remained unwavering until the day I graduated.
